MIDS isn’t just another design lab. It is key in Mahindra’s “Made in India, for the World” vision. Working in sync with MADE (Mahindra Advanced Design Europe), the studio ensures that designs created here meet global standards.

Ajay Saran Sharma, Sr. Vice President of Design and Head MIDS, said:

“It is a pleasure to have this new avatar of Mahindra India Design Studio commissioned. With state-of-the-art design spaces & machinery backed by world-class skills that hugely expands its capability & capacity.”

      Key Benefits of MIDS

      • Brings Indian creativity to global standards
      • Reduces time from concept to market
      • Makes way for sustainable innovation
      • Supports Mahindra’s auto, farm, and electric mobility sectors
      • Encourages local talent to work with world-class tools

How the Studio Shapes Mahindra Car Design

The studio’s workflow starts with a rough sketch. Then, a digital model is built. Once approved, a life-sized clay model is crafted using the Kolb ConceptLine Evo—one of the fastest milling machines in India. Designers work alongside sculptors to shape and refine every line and curve.

In the final steps, virtual reality and 360-degree projection tools are used to evaluate the design. This ensures the best outcome before the model goes into production.

Made in India, Designed for the World

Mahindra has made it clear that it wants to lead in the latest technology, style, and sustainability. By integrating MIDS with Mahindra’s Advanced Design Europe (MADE) facility in the UK, the company builds synergy between Indian engineering and global design thinking.

The MIDS facility in Mumbai complements MADE by handling India-specific models and collaborating closely on global projects. This makes Mahindra stand tall among global competitors while staying true to its Indian roots.
